About the role

We are the Peripheral Connectivity Team. Here’s what we do:

We build, support, and lead industry standards for some of the most fundamental connectivity stacks in the Windows OS. When you use a peripheral with a Windows PC – a keyboard, a webcam, a headset, a flash drive, a dock, etc. – you’re likely using our low-level platforms. Our team is responsible for technologies such as Bluetooth, sensors, simple peripheral buses (e.g., I2C, SPI, etc.), USB, and Windows Driver Frameworks (WDF).

What role are we hiring for:

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager - Windows Connectivity Platform to join our team. As a member of our team, you will play an instrumental role in delivering the most fundamental connectivity technologies that make Windows devices tick.

Our team works closely with top silicon partners, OEMs, end customers, software partners and standards bodies, to follow and influence the latest technological advancements. Through these collaborations, we envision, develop specifications, plan and build exciting and competitive new experiences that our customers love. In this role, you’ll lead the end-to-end engineering to light up the latest hardware and deliver these seamless experiences to our customers.

As you gain deep domain expertise with our platforms, you’ll also get to influence the product road-map by monitoring the evolving technologies, customer expectations and competitive landscape, and participating in the product management process.

What our team offers:

Engineering teams who deeply understand and are extremely passionate about the technologies they are responsible for. Opportunities to take on interesting technical challenges that directly impact the day-to-day experience for over 1B Windows customers. Ability to work on technologies that are both extremely challenging yet also household names that everyone knows. Teammates who bring diverse perspectives and deeply care about the technology and each other. The ability to directly collaborate with the world’s top silicon, device, and software firms to bring ideas to life.

Our team might be a good fit if:

  • You have a genuine passion and interest in technologies like Bluetooth and USB.
  • You are the type of person who digs deep into a technology over multiple years – you like delivering short-term impact through competitive customer experiences, alongside long-term impact by channeling the domain expertise you build to steer the industry.
  • You have deep embedded engineering experience working with hardware, firmware, and/or drivers.
  • You are customer driven and seek to build and use domain expertise to identify and pursue the right experiences for our customers, not just features.
  • You are a team player that approaches communication and collaboration with empathy and compassion.
  • You dream big to create clarity out of ambiguity, then lead teams across internal and external organizations to realize your vision.
  • You like getting your hands on the latest and greatest hardware and software – testing the latest devices, builds of software, and working directly with the engineering team and partners to identify and resolve quality issues before they reach our customers.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Defines the program(s) goals and prioritization for the multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) they own. Translates the needs of the organization and other teams into program goals and prioritized deliverables based on data-focused analysis. Engages in active risk management (proactive and reactive) to identify risks and propose mitigations for risks using data (e.g., telemetry, usage, net satisfaction, customer satisfaction).
  • Partners with the engineering team to contribute, prioritize, and deliver on the road-map for multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service). Understands the value proposition for the multiple feature areas and answers technical questions on the multiple feature areas they own.
  • Contributes to the development of the staging and implementation plan for piloting
