The Malone Center at Furman University is committed to providing leading-edge career exploration, preparation, and employment connections. The team is dedicated to working collaboratively with each other, in addition to partnering with campus and external stakeholders to provide best-in-class career support to our students. This position will focus on building an ecosystem of career support for students interested in exploring and securing internships and full-time employment in finance, business, and related careers through individual/group career coaching, employer/alumni connections, and curated programming and resources.
The successful candidate must be student-centered, have a strong commitment to the liberal arts, and demonstrated experience engaging stakeholders through effective communications and highly effective programming.
Job Description:
Individual and Group Career & Internship Coaching
Serve as an industry expert for finance, business, and related careers with a focus on finance careers such as asset management, commercial banking, corporate finance, investment banking, personal financial planning, private equity, and wealth management. Stay up to date on industry trends, hiring timelines, and recruiting practices.
Provide one-on-one career coaching for students and early career alumni who have expressed an interest in exploring and preparing for careers in finance, business, and related fields. Career coaching topics include career exploration, resume writing, interview preparation, internships, job search strategies, graduate school applications, and salary negotiation.
Advise students on graduate school options in business and finance, including MBA programs, Master’s in Finance, Master’s in Business Analytics, and Master's in Computational/Quantitative Finance programs. Stay informed on program structures, timelines, and best-fit preparation strategies.
Track student engagements and internship/employment/graduate school outcomes.
Programming & Resources
Develop content and deliver professional development presentations on a variety of career topics such as job search strategies, resumes, and interview preparation. Coordinate skills-building workshops in high-demand areas such as Excel, PowerPoint, case interviews, and financial statement analysis.
