The Department of Family Medicine (DFM) at the University of Washington offers an outstanding opportunity to join our Sports Medicine Section. We invite applications for one (1) Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) to join an exciting and growing Sports Medicine team with long established national and international successes in the areas of sports medicine clinical care, education and research.

Assistant Professors (Without Tenure) are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2025, or as soon as possible.

The base salary range for this position will be: $15,833 - $17,500 per month ($190,000 - $210,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UW Physicians practice plan.

Position Description

This position expects that the faculty hired will participate in departmental activities for the Department of Family Medicine, while their clinical work will be focused on Primary Care and Sports Medicine. They are expected to participate in the teaching mission of the Department, especially as it relates to their clinical work and expertise. This 1.0 FTE position consists of (approximately) clinical scheduled time (0.65 FTE), time in intercollegiate athletics (0.15 FTE) and administrative/academic time (0.2 FTE). 

The successful candidates will practice clinically at the UW Sports Medicine Center at Husky Stadium, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), and the UWMC Family Medicine Clinic at Northgate.

Clinical duties will include direct patient care of sports medicine patients at the Stadium Clinic, direct patient care of ICA athletes and full-spectrum family medicine patients at Northgate. Total clinical time will be six and a half clinics per week and will include working with Family Medicine residents and medical students while in clinic at least two half-days per week. The specified clinical activities will always be contingent on availability of space.

The successful candidates will be expected to participate in the full spectrum of clinical practice including full-spectrum family medicine, procedural and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound. Other procedural opportunities such as radiofrequency ablation, extracorporeal shock way therapy and Tenex are based on training background and the needs of the sports medicine section. We also expect that the successful candidates will support the training of the new generation of family physicians and primary care sports medicine physicians.
