Branch Accountant

As a Branch Accountant, you’ll be the financial backbone of a busy construction operation—owning project cost accuracy, guiding leaders with meaningful analysis, and ensuring our accounting processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys partnering with operations, and wants to grow their influence across multiple areas of the business.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Support Branch Accounting
- Oversee the Branch Accounting and Cost Accounting functions while performing hands‑on general accounting duties.
- Ensure daily operations align with established accounting principles, policies, and objectives.
Own Project Accounting
- Accurately record project billings, subcontractor payments, and maintain lien rights and contract collections.
- Maintain key Excel-based tools for pay estimates, subcontractor costs, backlog, and material tracking.
- Analyze daily/weekly/monthly cost data and identify variances from budget.
- Set up new project budgets and process change orders in Viewpoint.
Ensure Accuracy & Resolve Issues
- Investigate and resolve invoice or reporting discrepancies by collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
- Support accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, or other assigned sections.
- Assist with internal and external audits and identify trends or deviations from standards.
Drive Financial Insight
- Provide financial analysis to support management decisions.
- Partner directly with Operations to guide revenue, margin projections, and financial performance across multiple construction projects.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of construction accounting experience preferred.
- Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel; SQL or MS Query experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical abilities and clear, effective communication skills.
- A proactive, detail‑oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate across departments.
