Overview:
Katzman Produce, a leading produce wholesaler and distributor in NYC, is offering a unique internship opportunity that blends two dynamic departments—Sales and Procurement. This Sales & Buying Intern position is ideal for a college student interested in business, supply chain, logistics, sales, or agriculture. Interns will gain real-world exposure to how fresh produce is sourced, purchased, and sold, while also learning how internal departments collaborate to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Buying Support:
- Assist with creating and updating purchase orders and logging shipment details
- Support logistics coordination for inbound shipments, including truck scheduling and document verification
- Help manage vendor communications regarding deliveries, returns, or discrepancies
- Monitor USDA inspection emails and organize quality documentation accordingly
- Learn how to manage tools for procurement tracking
- Assist with reviewing receiving paperwork, entering inventory data, and flagging any issues to Buyers
- Support follow-ups on ETAs and customs documents for incoming products
Sales Support:
- Shadow and support the wholesale sales team during customer interactions and order management
- Help track direct deliveries, coordinate appointment times, and follow up on signed confirmations
- Assist with organizing and updating customer accounts, orders, and pricing sheets
- Learn how to support account growth strategies and identify customer service trends
- Observe pricing discussions and negotiations to better understand market-based pricing
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately
- Help support data entry and tracking related to inventory, customer feedback, and claims
What We’re Looking For:
- College student studying Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Agriculture, or a related field
- A strong interest in both customer service and supply chain operations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- A problem-solver with a proactive mindset and eagerness to learn
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with databases or logistics tools is a plus
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required
