Warehouse and Machine Shop Assistant, Junior

Support critical warehouse and machine shop operations as a Warehouse and Machine Shop Assistant Junior in Newport News, VA. This role ensures accurate inventory management, safe equipment operation, and smooth shop maintenance to directly contribute to mission readiness and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties

Inventory & Warehouse Management

• Receive and manage hand receipts for warehouse operations, maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Collaborate with TDD Warehouse personnel to assist with inventory control, labeling, and proper handling of HAZMAT materials.

Machine Shop Operations

• Operate machine tools and hand tools including press brakes, drill presses, grinders, and table saws.
• Perform precise measurements using micrometers, tape measures, and calipers.

Equipment Maintenance & Safety

• Conduct routine maintenance such as cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of shop equipment.
• Operate forklifts safely and assist trades personnel including welders, grinders, and machinists as needed.

General Support & Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean and safe shop and warehouse environment through regular cleanup and organization.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall mission success.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in warehouse, machine shop, or related operational support roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with operating and maintaining machine tools and equipment.
• Ability to safely handle and manage HAZMAT materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Prior forklift operation experience.

Education & Certification

• High School diploma or GED required.
