Job Duties

New RN graduates, experienced RNs switching specialties, and Psychiatric RNs welcomed.
Please attach your degrees and certificates with your application
Provide professional nursing care and treatment. Coordinate nursing care through consultation with physicians and other nursing personnel. Provide education and psychological support to patients and families.
A full time six week and forty hour work week with some weekends and holidays required.

Minimum Qualifications


Knowledge of principles and practices of professional registered nursing care, including but not limited to the use of the nursing process and effective collaboration with others. The ability to apply this knowledge in providing care to individuals with a serious mental illness in the acute and chronic phase. Ability to formulate nursing actions and individualized treatment interventions and to evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions by examining patient progress toward expected outcome behaviors. Knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical conditions as well as biopsychosocial needs of patients. Ability to prioritize patients’ care needs and own work assignment. Ability to function as a part of a team and to give and receive feedback in a manner that advances the work group. Ability to recognize when skill requirements exceed capability and the ability to seek timely assistance from the charge nurse or supervisor. Skill to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to use resources for continued professional development. Ability to collaborate, problem solve and negotiate with colleagues of all departments/disciplines

Position requires graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a compact state required.
Candidate must be willing to work 4 out of 8 weekends and some holidays. Its a day shift position
