Internship positions are competitive and are paid positions. The internship will run from the end of March through approximately mid-September and is based at our Jacksonville, FL office.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide accounting, processing, and analytical support for accounting activities.
- Assists with month-end close process including preparation of various journal entries and accruals of assigned areas
- Assist with the preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations
- Aggregate sales and royalty information from various systems and sources ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Provide support to finance, licensing, and other internal business partners, and obtain a working knowledge of all reporting requirements by partner/ league/ agency
- Develop knowledge of systems, data, and reporting tools as well as understanding of the business processes related to assigned general ledger accounts, including transaction flow
- Monitor and address payment discrepancies, scrutinize credit card charges, and document returns
- Communicate with clients regarding payments, refunds, and statements
- Actively seek professional guidance and constructive feedback, and display a desire to gain industry knowledge
- Be curious and analytical, and show both creativity and individual initiative while approaching problems with a solution-seeking mindset
- Demonstrate Fanatics core values and maintain an environment of mutual respect and collaboration
- Additional duties as assigned by the business vertical Manager:
- Assist with audit requests from our external auditors
- Generate accounting reports for senior management presentations on the topics of royalties and revenue share
- Track payments related to tax preparation and actively pursue return resolutions
- Verify the precision of financial statements, ensuring accuracy in the final figures
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Proactive, hard-working, intellectually curious, and results-oriented
- Must have good time management and communication skills, and have the ability to handle a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Word, PowerPoint; including Intermediate Excel skills (ability to use functions such pivot tables, lookups, IF statements, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited 4-year college or university
- Completed intermediate Accounting I & II coursework highly preferred
- GPA 3.5 or higher
- Previous professional experience in bookkeeping/Accounting a plus
