Data Scientist

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for Data Scientist for operational security (OpSec)  to enhance an organization's security posture and proactively mitigate threats.  This position will be located in Lackland AFB, TX and will be an on-site position.

Responsibilities

Develops, inspects, mines, transforms, and analyzes data to create descriptive and predictive models that impact productivity, decision making, and provide strategic mission impact. Data Analysis -- Applies data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis on data to create predictive and descriptive models. Applies and integrates these models to develop segmentation, clustering, forecasting, classification and other models. Data Visualization -- Applies Data discovery and data visualization tools to interpret and present the findings in a compelling and usable manner. Maintains and integrates analytical systems with operational systems, verifies the accuracy of the data and analytics. Interacts with both business and data SMEs.

• Generates new business insights through data extraction, storage, transformation, analysis, and visualization of diverse data sets.
• Using data to improve threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and prevention.
• Analyzing large datasets to find patterns and insights that inform cybersecurity strategies
• Collaborating with cybersecurity teams to integrate data science models into the security framework is essential.
• developing data-driven algorithms and models, often using machine learning for anomaly detection, to identify potential cyber threats. 

Qualifications

High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

• Clearance Required: TS/SCI
• 5+ years of experience in data science, including data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
• Experience with programming proficiency in languages like Python, R, and SQL 
• Familiarity with security tools like SIEM systems and intrusion detection systems
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 National Geospatial Agency Commercial Telemetry Data (CTD) training course or equivalent

BS degree in Data Science
