The Role 

 

The R&D engineer will be part of a global, cross-disciplinary team inventing new technologies and developing new printers for Markem-Imaje. You will have the opportunity to work with talented engineers in a global environment, building complex products, from proof of concept to production, across a variety of printing technologies targeted to meet our customers’ needs and the strategic objectives of Markem-Imaje.

 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Develop expertise in the technology of drop-on-demand hot melt inkjet printers
  • Develop an understanding of the marking and coding applications of those printers
  • Generate innovation and new intellectual property at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering and of ink chemistry
  • Develop and test new ideas and new designs for ink delivery systems, pneumatic systems, thermal management
  • Use computational simulations and experimentation to validate those new ideas and designs
  • Work with other engineers in other parts of the world to design and prototype new concepts
  • Present designs and findings in brainstorming meetings, design reviews, and technical gate meetings
  • Support transition to manufacturing by providing technical advice and analysing failures
  • Develop expertise in the physics of jetting and the evaluation of print quality
  • Follow and drive improvement of best practices and tools to improve team efficiency, effectiveness, and mechanical subsystem quality.

 

Job Requirements: 

 

  • PhD degree in engineering or physics
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience
  • High level of self-motivation in a role with a lot of flexibility and opportunity for interesting technical work
  • Can-do attitude with the drive to solve complex engineering problems and the humility to chase simple problems
  • Ability to simplify a complex problem to its key elements, define a path to analyse, simulate, and test the components, then integrate them back into the system
  • Strong experience with and appetite for experimental work involving electromechanical devices
  • Experience with programming of microcontrollers is strongly desirable
  • Experience with mechanical CAD, electrical CAD, numerical simulation, and system modelling beneficial but not critical
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Pay Range: - [per hour / annually]
