The Role
Lumen is growing our Cloud footprint as we continue our strategy of retiring legacy onprem systems. The Platform Engineering team is at the heart of Cloud containerization.
The selected candidate will be a multi-cloud architect leader, responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based solutions that integrate multiple cloud computing infrastructures. They work with teams of IT professionals to ensure that applications run smoothly across various cloud environments. As part of a small team, learn and work with legacy technologies for day-to-day support while planning and leading migration to multiple Cloud vendors (Azure/AWS/GCP)
Provide expert technical direction; partner and collaborate with others in the resolution of interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms. Responsible for ensuring the implementation of technical solutions utilizing expertise learned from multiple and complex client environments. Consult and assess industry advances in technical system technologies.
Location
This role is designated as a fully remote position within the United States.
The Main Responsibilities
- Technical leadership including day-to-day operational support for legacy as well as strategic Cloud technologies.
- Provide and document architecture guidance to project teams and application teams
- Develop automation solutions
- Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments, and contingency plans
- Mentor / cross-train team members on existing and new technologies
- Carry out special tasks at Management’s direction
- Participate in the team’s on-call support rotation
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience with typically 8+ years in Enterprise-level support and design experience. Strong experience in operations and application administration & design
- Proven large-enterprise experience in the following technologies - Cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP. Certifications are a plus.
- Ability to liaise with executive management and Enterprise Architecture teams
- Kubernetes / Rancher
- Automation / Scripting
- Unix scripting
- Terraform
- Windows scripting - PowerShell / VBScript
- GitHub
- Experience with middleware technologies (WebSphere/WebLogic/Tomcat/Apache/etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies
- Strong documentation & communication skills
- Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- A broad range of technical skills with a strong desire to constantly expand skillset
- Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete goals independently
