What the Role Is

Super Star Car Wash is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable Payroll & Total Rewards Manager to oversee all aspects of payroll processing and contribute to the development and administration of total rewards strategies. This role is responsible for managing weekly payroll for 1,200+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent employee experience. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a proactive approach to process improvement, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing

Payroll Operations

  • Lead, coach, and collaborate with a payroll specialist to ensure timely and accurate processing of weekly payroll.
  • Review and approve payroll data including hours worked, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and wage garnishments.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations, including those specific to California.
  • Manage off-cycle payments and special check requests with urgency and accuracy.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and audit payroll data for accuracy and alignment with company policies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll processes and systems, including ADP Workforce Now.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Support payroll-related audits and year-end activities (e.g., W-2 distribution, tax filings)

Total Rewards

  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness offerings.
  • Partner with benefits brokers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth plan administration and issue resolution.
  • Help coordinate and communicate open enrollment processes and benefit-related education.
  • Monitor trends in the market and provide input on competitive pay and benefits strategies.
  • Assist with total rewards reporting, analysis, and compliance (e.g., ACA, 5500 filings).
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of employee recognition and rewards programs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 4 years of payroll experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is required.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll laws and tax regulations. California experience is highly preferred.
