Job Description

AECOM’s Design and Consulting Services (DCS), Americas legal department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, creative, and highly talented Labor and Employment Attorney for a position as either Labor & Employment Counsel or Senior Labor & Employment Counsel (depending on experience and qualifications).  This position will report to the DCSA Vice President/Assistant General Counsel for Labor & Employment and will support the Senior Vice President/Deputy General Counsel for Corporate Labor & Employment. 

The position will be primarily remote but based in Dallas, TX.

This role will be responsible for directly managing labor and employment related legal matters.  The position will provide strategic counsel to the human resources department and other internal business partners as well as represent the company before administrative agencies.

This position requires close collaboration and partnership with internal stakeholders in HR, the business units, and the other attorneys in the legal department, with a significant focus on enabling and supporting the HR function.

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Provide counsel on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including recruiting, hiring, benefits, compensation, employee relations, discipline, terminations, harassment, discrimination, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour, prevailing wage, union matters, independent contractors, and strategies for managing risk around these matters.

  • Handle and/or direct investigations.

  • Conduct ongoing review and revision of AECOM’s human resources policies.

  • Prepare and conduct employment law training programs for human resources and management.

  • Handle EEOC and other administrative agency complaints.

  • Manage claims/litigation and outside counsel.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and international employment laws and regulations.

  • Act in an advisory capacity making recommendations that may have an important bearing on the conduct of the organization's business.

  • Partner with clients to achieve results that make business sense, including identifying opportunities for cost-effective process improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

For Labor & Employment Sr. Counsel:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) and Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school plus at least 10 years of relevant experience

For Labor & Employment Counsel:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) and Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school plus at least 8 years of relevant experience
