JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of the Project Management Office is responsible for leading the IT project management team and overseeing the successful delivery of organization projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to owning and leading the Enterprise IT Project Plan and all child plans, managing the IT Steering Committee, building and managing project teams/ resources, reporting to project sponsors and executives, and ensuring quality control throughout project lifecycles
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- PMI certification is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders.
- Lead the IT project management team and provide guidance and support to project managers.
- Manage project budgets and timelines and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders, including senior management.
- Identify and manage project risks and issues and develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Ensure that project documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
Essential Functions:
- Lead, track and report on IT’s entire project portfolio.
- Help determine capacity of internal resources and evaluate the feasibility of external resources that are required to complete full project workload.
- Work with project sponsor and stakeholders to complete project charters outlining goals, scope, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing.
- Serve as Secretary to the IT Steering Committee.
- Provide generally acceptable, real-time or near real-time visibility into scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budget, and timing.
- Manage company interdependencies within projects.
- Ensure considerations are made for business change management, quality of deliverables, and success metrics in every project.
- Track project issues and work with parties to resolve.
- Effectively manage project scopes by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved.
- Develop project documentation and reports in a clear and concise manner.
- Ensure compliance with IT Policies and Procedures.
- Train and/ or lead Agile project teams where appropriate.
- Ability to work independently.
