Transportation Specialist IV or V: District Portfolio Office (Austin District)

TxDOT's Austin District Portfolio Office (Central Design) is looking for a Transportation Specialist IV or V position in Austin, Texas. This position provides technical computer aided drafting expertise and coordination for design and development of transportation projects involving multiple design and advanced drafting techniques. This position will involve active roadway design and project management for internally developed projects. Some of these projects will consist of complex urban and rural safety improvement projects, mobility projects, as well as innovative intersection improvements, main lane widening, retaining wall design, freeway ramp reversals, bridge replacements and complex drainage projects.

Assists with project planning and oversight, and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

This position is for ONE (1) Transportation Specialist IV or V. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of the position based on the applicant’s work experience, education, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Salary Plan/Grade:

• Transportation Specialist IV: B22 ($57,614 - $93,138/yearly)
• Transportation Specialist V: B24 ($65,104 - $106,634/yearly)
