About You

10+ years of systems engineering experience, including imaging sensors?
Passion for Owl's mission to improve automotive safety and ultimately save lives?

Required Skills and Experience

10+ years of experience in the specification, analysis, design, and verification of visible light image acquisition systems
10+ years of experience in systems engineering, including imaging sensors, electronics, mechanical components, optics, firmware, and software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
Knowledgeable in how imaging systems influence/affect image processing systems including neural-networks
Experience with CAD tools, both mechanical and electrical
Experience working with outside organizations, partners, consultants
Experience with calibrating image acquisition systems
Ability to write test plans
Excellent technical writing skills with experience in writing and managing System Requirements Documents
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
Experience with programming languages including Python and MATLAB
MS or PhD in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Nice to Haves

Proficiency in infrared camera design and system engineering, including knowledge of infrared sensor technology, image processing, and camera system design
Experience with hardware and software development for infrared camera systems
3D imaging experience
Neural network experience
Experience with programming languages such as C/C++
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to infrared camera systems, such as MIL-STD-810
Knowledge of identified standards including ISO-9001, ISO-26262, and others
Familiarity with traditional project management waterfall methodologies as well as tools, such as Agile and JIRA

The Role

Collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists to identify and solve complex technical challenges utilizing your ability to analyze optical, electrical, mechanical and software systems to develop leading-edge technology and product requirements.
Break down technical system requirements into individual component requirements, including sensor, electronics, mechanical components, optics, firmware, and software
Translate Product Requirements into technical System Requirements
Understand and manage system/component interdependencies
Work in the lab to investigate and debug anomalies that might occur in the development process working collaboratively with team members to reach resolution
Leverage experience with how image acquisition systems interact and drive image processing systems including neural networks
Use prior experience with 3D imaging concepts
Develop technical specifications and design documentation for infrared camera systems
Conduct system-level testing and evaluation of infrared camera systems to ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards
Participate in the development and execution of project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
Stay up-to-date with new technologies, trends, and best practices related to infrared camera design and system engineering
Work with leadership team to develop and implement ISO-9001 policies
