Responsibilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic well rounded design engineer for the RF Electronics Group. This is an electrical design engineering position that requires the ability to apply sound engineering principles for the leadership and execution of complex design projects within the Electronics Division. The ideal candidate is someone who works well in cross-functional teams and has recent experience designing complex systems using state-of-the-art commercial off-the-shelf FGPAs, processors, or systems on a chip (SOCs).  It is expected that this engineer can hit the ground running on complex PCB and substrate designs with limited oversight and learning curve.  This candidate must be comfortable designing and simulating complex, dense PCB and substrate designs, and will need to be able to present design status to large, broad audiences.Core Responsibilities:

  • Detailed electrical analysis, design and schematic capture of dense PCB and substrate designs.
  • Adapt traditional electrical analysis to new technologies and understand the impact of using new geometries and new materials on signal and power integrity.
  • Detailed analysis of signal integrity, crosstalk, and emissions of gigabit interfaces and designs routing several hundred I/O pins using Hyperlinx and Ansys tools.
  • Ability to understand routing impact on signal performance.
  • Use, modify, or generate IBIS models to fit simulation needs.
  • Detailed analysis of processor power distribution networks (core voltage, PLLs, I/O voltages, etc.) using tools such as Ansys SIwave to develop DC drop and AC impedance simulations.
  • Manage PCB layout design resources.
  • Use detailed simulation results to provide feedback to layout resources in order to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Prototype bring-up and debugging.
  • Functional verification.
  • Performance characterization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BSEE, MSEE preferred.
  • 7+ years overall experience.
  • Great EE fundamentals.
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Prior experience designing and simulating dense PCBs or substrates.
  • Prior experience simulating signal and power integrity for designs using complex processors or FPGAs, including high-speed (10Gbit) interfaces.
  • Ability to develop layout design constraints to meet preliminary signal and power integrity expectations.
  • Prior experience with electronics package design.

Security Requirement:

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
