OVERVIEW

The Global Sanitation Director directs and ensures the effectiveness of the company-wide cleaning and sanitizing policy and programs for all manufacturing locations.   Partners with facility sanitation leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of facility sanitation programs, including cleaning frequency, training, Sanitation Standard Operations Procedures (SSOPs) and work instructions. This role will work with Procurement on our cleaning chemical contracts and with Safety and Operations in ensuring documented work instructions and training are in place for anyone handing cleaning chemicals.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Global Leader for the Corporate Sanitation & Hygiene Program. This is inclusive of strategy, vision, objectives, continuous improvement, Sanitation & Hygiene Community of Practice
  • Leads the facilities in the delivery against global metrics.
  • Ensure there is a clear and aligned to plan on Cleaning and Hygiene staffing.
  • Supports ongoing GFSI certifications at all company-owned facilities globally.
  • Creates a global scorecard, tracks facility performance and ensures progress is being made to close identified gaps.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies.
  • Creates and maintains a global validation and verification system for Sanitation processes
  • Collaborates with Global Quality on Environmental Monitoring, Cleaning Chemical Policy, Food Safety Plans and internal audits.
  • Collaborates with Safety, Operations and Engineering on dust mitigation and cleaning chemical approvals.
  • Develops and provides Cleaning and Sanitation Training and is the technical expert for sanitation and hygiene.
  • Provides effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan.
  • Works with Procurement on vendors who provide chemicals, cleaning and any supporting equipment.
  • Partners with Site Quality, Safety and Operations in the development of regional photographic SSOP cleaning standards.
  • Approve the hygienic design and accessibility for deep clean prior to the purchase of new machinery & equipment.  Collaborate with Safety, Operations and Engineering to prioritize improvements of existing infrastructure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control practices and procedures.
  • 10+ years experience working in a GFSI (BRC / IFS / SQF / FSSC22000) environment, HACCP & Food Safety.
  • Experience in communicating with customers, auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in creating and administrating Regional or Global Sanitation and Hygiene programs. 
  • Direct and indirect management of sanitation and janitorial teams is strongly preferred.
  • HACCP and/or related food safety training.
  • Experience performing internal assessments
  • Experience with Sanitation Scheduling systems and/or software programs
  • Knowledge of current industry practices and wet/dry Sanitation and Sanitary Design Standards
  • Project management and CapEx experience

  • Must be able to work effectively in a multi-tasking work environment, and be familiar with quality assurance systems and standards.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and have the ability to interact positively with others within the corporate team and the management teams within each facility
  • Demonstrated success in meeting deadlines, providing education (seminars/training), and being innovative and proactive in solving problems with groups of people.
  • Must be able to lead a Sanitation and Hygiene program to meet strategic goals.
  • Strong organization, planning and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
