A Day in the Life

Are you passionate about ensuring the highest standards of quality in products that save and improve lives? Medtronic is seeking a Quality Engineer II to join our dedicated team at our Plymouth, Minnesota facility, where we design and manufacture mechanical heart valves—Class III Implantable Medical devices that make a direct impact on patients worldwide. This is 100% onsite role at our Plymouth, Minnesota facility.

You’ll work alongside talented engineering and manufacturing professionals, applying your expertise to uphold rigorous quality standards while advancing life-saving cardiovascular technology.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

• Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

• Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

• Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

• May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 2+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality OR Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 0+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality

Nice to Have

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field

• Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a passion for continuous learning

• Experience in the medical device or regulated industry (FDA/ISO)

• Knowledge of mechanical heart valve technology or cardiovascular products

• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP)

• Hands-on experience with inspection methods, metrology, or testing equipment

• Strong problem-solving skills and root cause investigation experience (DMAIC, 8D, etc.)

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions and levels
