Senior Systems Reliability Engineer, Project Kuiper

About the role
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The Senior System Reliability Engineer will be scoped to the satellite top-level assembly, and interface directly with internal stakeholders (including hardware design, hardware reliability, software, business, and mission planning teams) to develop system-level FMEAs to identify, catalog, and drive mitigation for critical failure modes. The candidate will then, in-turn, develop quantitative reliability models for risk assessment, requirement verification, requirement definition, informing design changes, and to assess impact of non-conformances in a production environment.
The candidate will also help grow, define, and develop internal processes for any required testing, data analysis, and automation.
The candidate will leverage and should be experienced with FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, reliability block diagrams, Markov models, and Monte Carlo simulation techniques. Additionally, the candidate should be comfortable with fundamentals of statistics, including the use of appropriate probability models based on observed failure data.
Experience with Reliasoft, Minitab, MIL-HNBK-217F (or equivalent) methods, NPRD/EPRD (or equivalent) datasets and Python preferred, but a willingness to learn instead will be considered.
Experience in the aerospace field (spacecraft especially), PCBA reliability, and life testing is a plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Basic Qualifications
- BS Degree in engineering, physics, statistics, mathematics or a related field
- 5+ years experience with failure analysis, reliability modeling, and applied statistics
- 2+ years of experience in programming/automation skillset
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree (MS or PhD) in engineering, physics, statistics, mathematics or a related field
- 5+ years experience with failure analysis, reliability modeling, and applied statistics in the aerospace field
- Experience with Reliasoft, Minitab and Python
- Hands-on experience in component life testing
