Job Details:

Purpose

The Center for Quantum Research (CQR) seeks a highly motivated individual to perform analysis, research, and development of novel and emergent quantum sensing technologies, including the use and implementation of such devices in real-world settings and practical applications in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL).

Responsibilities

• Conduct scientific research in quantum sensing, quantum information science, and related disciplines

• Develop technical assessments to help our government sponsors better understand, plan for, and otherwise engage with quantum technologies

• Advise and educate sponsors on all aspects of quantum technologies and their potential applications

• Convey the results of scientific research to sponsors and the scientific community through briefings, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications

• Foster new and existing sponsor relationships

• Mentor students and junior researchers

• Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in physics, chemistry, engineering, or other related discipline

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability

• Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills

• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure

Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in quantum sensing technologies

• Experience in remote sensing in space environments

• Experience in experimental solid-state, atomic, molecular, and optical physics

• Experience in quantum information science

• Experience in the analysis of complex scientific data

• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and impactful research

• Proficient use of modern computer systems, including Linux and Windows

• Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages

• Eligibility for immediate access to classified information

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0

Salary Range

$98,000-$140,000+/negotiable based on qualifications.
