Position Title: Region Sales Manager, Northeast – USG Commercial Roofing

Department: Gypsum Materials

Reports To: Director of Sales – Roofing

Position Summary:

· Responsible for all Securock Roofing Portfolio sales in assigned 13 state Northeast region.

· Incumbent must staff the region with a network of Independent Roofing Sales agents that are paid on a commission only basis.

· Hires and terminates ineffective reps/groups or take advantage of improving network when Tier 1 organizations become available.

· Manages an average of 12 independent organizations and vie for their time against other vendors that they represent. This amounts to approximately 35 individual representatives.

· Territory includes PA, WV, VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, MA, CT, RI, NH, VT, ME

· Extensive overnight travel required (40%).

· In depth knowledge and understanding of the commercial roofing industry required which includes the sales cycle, membrane manufacturers, warranties, roofing distribution’s role, the specification network and the value of code approvals (FM, UL, DORA, M-D, TDI, NYDI, etc.)

· Must be able to train their sales team about the features, advantages and benefits that USG’s Securock Roofing portfolio provides and how the products are positioned competitively in the global commercial roofing market.

· Essential incumbent can fill both the player and coach role.

· An ideal candidate resides in a major metropolitan city in the Northeast.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

· Maximize short- and long-term growth, volume, and profit in the region through effective development of relationships with key contractors, system manufacturers, roofing consultants and specifiers and distributors.

· Implement roofing sales strategies. Identify market opportunities by attaining knowledge of all industry factors and influencers.

· Establish focused account plans for not only the region but also each independent rep firm to capitalize on these growth strategies and exceed sales plans.

· Monitor independent sales agent performance and make changes as required.

· Maintain price levels market wide and communicate with peers as required to assure consistent pricing tactics are maintained nationwide.

· Salesforce power user.

· Provide monthly and quarterly sales volume forecast for each product group, maintaining clear lines of communication with all relevant USG departments to assure an industry best in service position in all areas to our customer base.

· Maintain all administrative responsibilities and operate within the assigned budget, price and policy guidelines.

Competencies / Skills:

· Understands the technical side of commercial roofing, codes, approvals (FM, UL, SPRI, ARMA, IIBEC, Miami-Dade)

· Has strong industry product knowledge, is a quick study, and is not afraid to lead by example and get hands dirty.

· Identifies key market issues and respond quickly.

· Solid, timely decision maker even in times of adversity and ambiguity.

· Good analytical and planning skills

· Sets clear, realistic, and measurable objectives.

· Monitors objective process and progress, accepts responsibility, and remains accountable for all established objectives.

Key Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in business or related field.

· Possess a minimum of 5-year’s experience in commercial roofing sales and/or sales management.

Required Skills:

· Possess a valid driver’s license

· Excellent computer skills and familiarity with MS Office

· Familiar with Salesforce

Preferred Skills:

· Strong presentation skills (Certified AIA presenter)

· Initiative and high level of self-motivation. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent leadership and communication skills.

· Demonstrated leadership ability combined with excellent time management, decision making and problem-solving skills

· Computer skills and competency with the MS Office Suite.

NOTE: Role includes a company vehicle. Role is relocation assistance eligible.


Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
