The Role:  Risk and Assurance Director

 

Orora Packaging Solutions is seeking a talented Risk and Assurance Director to support our senior leaders in Orora Packaging Solutions and Orora Visual to identify and manage key risks, plan, perform and report on reviews over the effectiveness of internal controls within Orora Limited globally and develop recommendations to strengthen those internal controls.

 

This role will be responsible for input into the development of the annual Assurance Plan and ensure that reviews are targeted at areas of higher risk and/or areas that provide opportunities to achieve business objectives. The role also supports the General Manager Risk and Assurance in relation to risk management initiatives (including leading workshops and providing support and insights to senior management). In addition, the role is the primary relationship point for the risk and assurance team with the North American businesses.

• Travel Requirement: Travel Required – up to 2 weeks per month, both locally and interstate
• FLSA Status: Salaried

 

 

What You’ll be Responsible For in this Role (Essential Job functions)

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business and effective relationships with key stakeholders (including senior management)
• Foster a strong network within the business and operate as a trusted advisor/business partner
• Lead the implementation and management of processes central to the risk management function
• Identify the need for strategic and/or operational reviews over matters that may either impair or provide opportunities over the achievement of business objectives
• Suggest functional improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the function, systems, programs and work practices
• Provide regular thought leadership to the business on current risk management and assurance trends and leading practices
• Provide support and assistance at the request of the Board, AC and/or executive management where appropriate
• Provide supervision and support for one direct report
• Provide support for Vice President – Risk and Assurance in relation to enterprise wide risk initiatives

 

Risk Management:

• Manage and maintain risk registers including developing a regular risk reporting cadence for senior management
• Inform and advise management of critical risk issues and treatment options
• Ensure key control failure key control failures are escalated to senior levels when appropriate, together with partnering with senior management to identify treatment options and controls
• Advise and support management in their ownership of strategic and operational risks
• Manage the overall process for identification, assessing and updating key strategic and operational risks
• Coach and influence business owners to understand and accept accountability for risks.

 

Assurance reviews:

• Define scope and complete planning for the execution of assurance reviews
• Liaise with co-source provider for resourcing requirements for assurance engagements to supplement internal audit team
• Undertake and/or supervise fieldwork as per the approved scope and in accordance with the standards and practices of the function
