GENERAL SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Fill new medication orders and prepare for Pharmacist's review.
- Work in conjunction with nurse navigators/resource department to facilitate patient care, aid in PA approval process, and acquire funding for co-pays.
- Stock medications to their appropriate locations, rotate stock as necessary and check outdates, and assist in maintaining adequate stock levels.
- Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, and Staff Pharmacist including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Performs other position related duties as assigned.
- Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Licensure and certifications as required by State.

- Utilize Pharmacy operating system effectively and efficiently
- Answer telephone and triage calls to appropriate person.
- Strong organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
- Facilitate communication within the Pharmacy.
- Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of Pharmacy Tech program required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
- Prior completion of department IV training and competency.
