Senior Cost Accountant

Position Summary:
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, reconciling account balances, and providing support for cost accounting activities. This role will require strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare assigned account reconciliations and related analysis on a monthly/quarterly basis to identify potential discrepancies in account balances
- Prepare assigned fluctuation analysis with explanations for trended numbers
- Prepare labor and overhead allocation journal entries and perform related analysis on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in inventory/COGS entries, documents, and reports.
- Calculate and analyze the Excess & Obsolete Inventory Reserve
- Track, analyze and report inventory valuations, ensure valued inventories have accurate quantities and are properly valued in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare and analyze monthly reclass journal entries between COGS, R&D and SGA.
- Prepare fluctuation analysis with explanations for material, labor, and overhead COGS in financial statements.
- Participate in quarterly review procedures and annual audit by providing information and responding to auditor requests and inquiries.
- Prepare supporting schedules for assigned areas for 10Q/10K filings and maintain/track financial statement closing checklists.
- Monitor compliance with GAAP and company procedures, identifying and communicating any accounting, financial, or control issues to management.
- Provide financial support to users as required and assist with any other projects as needed.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting processes and ensure compliance with SOX 404B.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience in either Life Sciences, Manufacturing & Production environments is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial statement closing, cost accounting, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in MS Excel and other financial software systems such as Oracle.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
