Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Engineering Senior Manager plays a crucial role in setting the technical direction and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data engineering solutions. They are responsible for managing multiple engineering teams and ensuring that the operational and technical goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee multiple engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and timely data solutions.
Set clear technical and operational goals for each team, and monitor progress against these objectives.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence within the engineering department.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement data solutions that meet business requirements.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Engage with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
Ensure data solutions are compliant with company policies and data governance practices.
Maintain documentation for all data engineering processes, data models, and standard operating procedures.
Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional growth of team members and managers within the department.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, professional training, or certifications.
8+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with at least 3 years in a managerial or lead role overseeing multiple teams.
Experience setting technical direction for data engineering.
Proficient in SQL, with extensive experience in MS Azure and other data engineering tools.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members and managers.
Experience with data governance and data quality management is a plus.
