Position Overview
This Sales professional will be responsible for developing, articulating, and implementing growth strategies for a defined portfolio of Intermodal accounts. This professional will deliver value propositions to existing and prospective customers demonstrating the potential Norfolk Southern’ s network which, when accepted, will enable growth exceeding the team’s revenue, price, and profit growth objectives.
Skills
- Customer relationship management – Building and maintaining relationships with customers is key. Willingness to aggressively engage with potential new customers is a must.
- Communication – Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential for interaction with customers and other stakeholders. Must be an expert as it relates to listening to the customer’s needs, asking the right questions, and delivering transportation solutions
- Industry Knowledge – Understanding the network and markets we serve, our competition, and rail partners
- Analytical Skills – Must have the ability to analyze market trends, pricing and customer needs that lead to smart and profitable growth for our organization
- Organized, both from an information standpoint and more importantly a time management stand point
Responsibilities
- Provides information to customers regarding our products and services
- Manages the contracts as it relates to price and other items that may be unique to that customer
- Assessments for the markets we serve and where we can grow
- Generate BCO Leads/targets in collaboration with their customer base
- Create and keep updated sales material (Updated schedules/rates/power points)
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 3 years
Preferred Level: 3-5 years
Education:
Preferred Level: Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BS)
Preferred Majors: Business
Technical Skills:
- MS PowerPoint/Presentations
- MS Excel/Spreadsheets
- Proficiency in Salesforce and pipeline management via CRM
