Job Description
This critical role is responsible for managing the accounting and external financial reporting processes for Treasury and Corporate activities including debt, financial instruments, investments, pensions & OPEB benefits, and intangible assets. This role interacts with several internal stakeholders including Treasury, Consolidations, External Reporting, Ventures/Business Development, Tax, and Human Resources as well as our auditors. Responsibilities also include accounting for unusual and/or complex transactions on an ad hoc basis. The ability to research accounting literature, form opinions, and communicate recommendations is strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversees the accounting and financial reporting processes for the Company’s debt, investments, financial instruments, pension & OPEB benefits and intangible assets.
- Manages month-end close for these areas, including reviewing and approving journal entries and related schedules (to support consolidations, cash flow reporting, etc.).
- Prepares and/or review key footnote disclosures for external reporting (10-Q/K).
- Performs technical accounting research and communicate recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Acts as the global US GAAP and accounting policy subject matter expert for these areas.
- Supports integration activities on an as-needed basis.
- Identifies and implement opportunities to improve / streamline current processes and procedures.
- Manages two direct reports (one manager and one senior accountant).
- Provides technical accounting and accounting support for unusual and/or complex transactions on an ad hoc basis.
