About the role

Summary

In collaboration with Concord Hospital Senior Management Team, the Administrative Director provides leadership for all aspects of the CHMG Primary Care, including operational accountability for associated medical practices, the Family Health Center, and the Family Medicine Residency.  Plans, directs and coordinates the development and implementation of clinical programs consistent with the mission and vision of Concord Hospital. Responsible for the service area planning, business development and growth for assigned services. Develops collaborative relationships with medical directors, medical groups, regional health providers, the community, and professional organizations to ensure a continuum of care focus and to enhance the image of Concord Hospital. Works with other leaders, program managers and departments to ensure system collaboration and optimal patient flow and access. Develops and executes service area plans for the system in coordination with Business Planning regarding market, capital, and operational activities to ensure quality results and market share goals. Recommends and implements an integrated performance and quality improvement process that will improve effectiveness, enhance efficiency, increase cost effectiveness, and ensure high customer satisfaction and optimal patient outcomes. This position will report directly to the health system’s Vice President of Operations for Concord Hospital Medical Group and will work in a dyad relationship with the Associate Chief Clinical Officer for Primary Care.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Five to seven years of progressive health system management required.  Medical practice leadership experience preferred.  Formal training/experience with Operational Excellence/Lean/Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodology preferred.

Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skills; strong understanding of business goals and objectives, ROI and cost modeling experience.

Ability to lead large diverse multidisciplinary teams of professionals in a highly complex, constantly changing matrix management structure.

Responsibilities

Accountable for operational performance of all primary care practices, as well as select hospital departments.  This includes, but is not limited to department and provider productivity, quality of care, access, patient experience, and profitability.

Develops and provides oversight of the operational, financial, clinical, patient experience, growth strategies and metrics that span service areas. This requires collaboration with key stakeholders to gather the necessary data and to implement initiatives to meet service area goals.

Maintains knowledge and awareness of national trends, with particular attention to the competitive local and regional environment. Understands and articulates the health system’s competitive position in that environment.

Develops, gains approval of, and tracks progress of the annual budget and strategic business plans for assigned areas.

Collaborates with physician leaders, nurse leaders, and other clinical and administrative leaders to develop comprehensive, evidence-based pathways for improving care and to ensure programmatic growth targets and quality goals are developed and achieved.

Works with physician leadership, other providers, and management to re-engineer care for value through the design of efficient and effective processes that deliver best-in-class services and care to patients consistently.

Maintains appropriate communication among providers regarding all aspects of department and service performance.

Understands and delivers upon market needs through interactions with the community and regional primary care physician network, employers, and payers as applicable.

Develops and utilizes appropriate statistical and financial performance measures and produces meaningful reports that enable management to make sound operational and strategic decisions.

Monitors level of resources utilized in service delivery and determines appropriateness of resource consumption in the service line; enhances the effectiveness, efficiency and patient satisfaction with care delivery.

Participates in health system supply chain initiatives related to the service line to manage the introduction of new technologies and devices in a fiscally responsible manner, balancing the need to advance clinical quality and market position.

Develops and implements strategy and corresponding business plans to optimize revenue and expand market share.
