What this job involves:

This position offers an exciting opportunity to support critical operations within a pharmaceutical vivarium environment. As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining specialized equipment and building systems that are essential to animal research operations. Working in a highly regulated environment, you'll perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on diverse systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, autoclaves, and cage washers. This role is ideal for a skilled technician who thrives in dynamic settings where attention to detail, safety compliance, and technical expertise directly contribute to the success of pharmaceutical research operations. Reporting to the facilities management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the facility remains operational, safe, and compliant with stringent regulatory standards.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Perform maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems to ensure proper water supply and drainage throughout the facility

• Conduct electrical maintenance and troubleshooting to keep critical building systems operational

• Maintain and repair HVAC systems to ensure proper environmental controls for vivarium operations

• Service and repair autoclaves to support sterilization requirements and cage washer equipment to ensure proper sanitation of animal housing

• Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner to minimize operational disruptions

• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work performed, track parts usage, and maintain accurate service records

• Adhere to all safety protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements specific to pharmaceutical and vivarium environments

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience

• At least 1 year of experience working in a GxP (Good Practice) regulated environment

• Demonstrated skills in light plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance

• Computer proficiency including ability to use maintenance management software and digital documentation systems

• Ability to be respirator trained and maintain respirator certification as required

• Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, overhead work, bending, and stooping

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in pharmaceutical facilities or vivarium (animal research) environments

• Familiarity with specialized vivarium equipment such as autoclaves and cage washers

• Knowledge of contamination control and cleanroom protocols

• Experience with preventive maintenance programs in regulated environments

• Understanding of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines and compliance requirements

Work Shift: M-F 7am-3:30 pm
