About the role

JOB SUMMARY
Performs financial analyses or handles functional areas such as treasury, accounting and financial reporting for enterprise funds, debt service, debt covenant compliance and accounting, capital projects as they relate to debt and organizational cash flow, tax and revenue analysis, management support for debt issuance, problem-solving, or various financial projects affecting the County. May manage or coordinate accounting processes of functional areas. May be responsible for planning, organizing, leading, monitoring and ensuring achievement of key result areas for assigned functional areas.

 

STARTING SALARY: $30.55 hourly/ $63,544 annually

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Analyzes and audits accounting and fiscal data, records and reports. Work with fiscal management as needed to obtain information for analysis or problem-solving.
  • Determines and requests staff, material, and equipment needs for the operations and programs managed to contribute to the formulation and justification of budgetary requests.
  • Develops and recommends new and revised statutes, rules, policies, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of the functions and programs managed and to respond to changes in operational program needs, objectives, and priorities.
  • Develops accounting reports for management, executive teams, and external parties such as state and federal entities as well as municipal bond-related recipients.
  • Directs and coordinates, or prepares, varied accounting and financial statements, summaries, and reports.
  • Directs the development, modification, testing and installation of accounting systems.
  • Directs the maintenance of subsidiary and general ledgers and related account maintenance.
  • Establishes operational priorities, coordinate these operations with other functions within the entity, and ensures that program objectives and standards are established and attained and are consistent with overall organizational goals. Leads specialized accounting projects and studies.
  • Implements new Governmental Accounting Standards in areas of responsibilities.
  • Handles accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation.
  • Manages assigned accounting and financial functions, programs, and systems.
