Job Description

This position is eligible for an additional sign-on bonus.

Provide behavioral health treatment in the dedicated Behavioral Health Unit for patients with serious mental illness and mental health conditions of moderate severity. The role is a full-time, dedicated onsite clinical position within the Behavioral Health Unit staffing model and supports assessment, treatment, monitoring, documentation, and suicide precaution decisions consistent with contract requirements, facility policy, applicable detention standards, accreditation standards, and state law. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients and support treatment within a structured, wrap-around therapeutic milieu for the Behavioral Health Unit population. 
  • Provide behavioral health treatment as a full-time, dedicated onsite clinician in the Behavioral Health Unit. 
  • Deliver care to adult patients in the Behavioral Health Unit who meet criteria for serious mental illness or other qualifying behavioral health conditions requiring care 
  • Add, remove, or reduce suicide watch precautions on all patients, as authorized by the contract. 
  • Support care delivery for patients referred from within the facility and from other staffed and non-staffed facilities, with priority based on clinical need. 
  • Coordinate with the Admissions Review Panel and relevant facility providers and administrative leadership as needed for patient review, placement, and continuity of care. 
  • Provide care using trauma-informed practices and evidence-based behavioral health approaches required for the Behavioral Health Unit program. 
  • Support or participate in structured behavioral health programming within the Behavioral Health Unit, which includes evidence-based group programming delivered by dedicated Behavioral Health Unit staff. 
  • Maintain current, valid, active, permanent, full, independent, and unrestricted credentials or licensure as required by state law and contract requirements applicable to the profession. 
  • Complete required suicide prevention and intervention training upon hire and annually thereafter, as well as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and trauma-informed care training required for Behavioral Health Unit staff. 
  • Document patient care in the electronic health record and support contract-required health record processes, including mental health assessment workflow, record review documentation, and continuity-of-care transfer documentation when applicable. 
  • Participate in care delivery, documentation, and coordination in accordance with applicable standards, including current detention standards, accreditation standards, and other contract requirements. 
  • Support quality improvement, risk management, emergency response readiness, and other required compliance activities applicable to healthcare personnel working under the contract. 
  • Work onsite as part of the minimum required Behavioral Health Unit clinical staffing model. 
  • Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
