Job Summary: We are seeking a highly analytical and client-focused Director, Pharmacy Consulting, to join our employee benefits consulting team. In this role, you’ll serve as a leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME) on pharmacy benefits and play a critical part in evaluating PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager) contracts, analyzing pricing proposals, and delivering strategic insights to employer clients. . In addition to consulting responsibilities, you will play a central role in assessing and developing the pharmacy support infrastructure that enables scalable, high-quality service delivery across the organization.  The ideal candidate will have a solid background in pharmacy benefits, data analysis, and effective client communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Pharmacy Strategy & Expertise

  • Serve as an internal SME on pharmacy benefit design, PBM contracting, and clinical program evaluation.
  • Stay informed on pharmacy industry trends, regulatory updates, and innovations in pharmacy benefits.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with PBMs and other pharmacy stakeholders

Pharmacy Support Structure Development

  • Evaluate current internal processes and resources supporting pharmacy consulting services.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to strengthen operational support, tools, and systems.
  • Contribute to designing and building a scalable pharmacy support structure to meet growing business needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement best practices and enhance team capabilities.
  • Champion best practices to foster consistency, reliability, and cross-functional alignment.

Contract & Pricing Evaluation

  • Review and assess PBM contracts, including rebate guarantees, pricing terms, and performance guarantees.
  • Evaluate RFP responses and pricing proposals from PBMs and other pharmacy vendors.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend clinical program enhancements.
  • Monitor performance against contracted terms and conditions

Client Reporting & Engagement

  • Present findings, benchmarking insights, and strategic recommendations in a clear, compelling way.
  • Support consultants in developing pharmacy strategies aligned with client goals.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for non-clinical audiences.

Data Analysis & Financial Modeling

  • Analyze pharmacy claims to identify trends, utilization patterns, and cost drivers.
  • Support the development of financial models and forecasting tools related to pharmacy spend.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with actuarial, clinical, and account management teams to deliver integrated benefit solutions.
  • Serve as a pharmacy resource to account teams by providing training, tools, and strategic guidance to enhance their understanding of PBM contracts and financial terms
  • Participate in client renewals, vendor negotiations, and multi-disciplinary planning sessions

Qualifications:

  • Education & Credentials:
  • PharmD or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy (preferred), or equivalent experience in pharmacy benefits.
  • Advanced degree in health economics, public health, or business is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in pharmacy benefits, PBM operations, or pharmacy consulting.
    • 10+ years of financial analysis experience
    • Experience working with or for a PBM, health plan, or benefits consulting firm is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
    • Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
