Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.

Are you a forward thinker and confident working on changing motion-based technologies? Grand Canyon University’s College of Arts and Media is looking for a Faculty of Digital Film.  An exploratory spirit who will help lead the faculty in the refinement of existing programs and coordinate with high-tech industry partners to develop new courses and programs to launch talented graduates within the College.  Our Full Time Digital Film Faculty position is a 9-month faculty in person instruction.

What you will do: 

  • Organize and teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in film, from foundational to capstone courses.

  • Promote and advance the multiple film programs and help recruit potential students.

  • Continued activities in your professional practice and scholarly research.

  • Service and Outreach - departmental, college and university committees and community engagement.

  • Engage in curriculum design and development.

  • Contribute to the archive of student work, department social media, and marketing efforts.

  • Assist in mentoring ground and online adjunct faculty.

  • Participate in student club and organizational leadership.

  • Participate in GCU internal and external initiatives.

  • Advise students throughout their time at GCU.

What you will need:

  • MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Film or equivalent degree in related field required.

  • Two years teaching post-production, visual effects, or closely related field at the university or college level (Graduate school teaching appointment or assistantship experience may be considered).

  • Evidence of an on-going and active professional record and creative community involvement.

  • Experience introducing students to professional opportunities, such as coordination of internships or co-ops, experiential and service learning projects, etc.

  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Blackmagic programs

  • Commitment to scholarship/creative activity, teaching and service.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus:

  • More than three years full-time teaching experience from the introductory through graduate level.

  • More than three years of professional practice experience in the field of film with emphasis on the preferred teaching areas: post-production, visual effects, color correction.
