GENERAL SUMMARY
Work under the supervision of the Manager of CT. The CT Support Assistant’s primary job function is to safely prepare patients for their CT exam. Taking patients full history, checking allergies, among many other important parts of the exam preparation. Works closely with the CT Technologist, completing CT History Sheet, positioning patients, moving patients, and transporting patients to and from departments. Assisting the CT Technologist with all patients. This position would be able to everything a CT Technologist performs except for giving contrast to the patient and hitting the radiation exposure button.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
Licensure:
- BLS within 90 days of hire required.
Experience:
- One to three months of on-the-job training. Previously Radiology experience preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

- Greets and assists the customer (patients, patient’s family, visitors, co-workers, physicians ) in a positive, professional and courteous manner.
- Performs patient history and screening pertaining to CT exam ordered.
- Input information into the PACS system and EHR.
- Performs computer functions. Order entry, scanning of documents.
- Prepares patient for exam.
- Assists the Technologist with patient positioning and selects appropriate coils and positioning devices.
- Performs patient transport to and from CT, inputs information into RIS.
- Monitors and orders 02 supplies, completes daily safety check-off list, which includes monitoring of blanket warmer temperatures, reaction box, and eye wash solution.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment and computer systems.
- Monitors patients while in patient holding area.
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment, work and break area.
- Behaves in a professional manner at all times.
- Acknowledges and adheres to the “Standards of Behavior” handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
