About the role

Department

BSD MED - Genetic Medicine - Weinstein Research Staff

About the Department

The Weinstein Lab at the University of Chicago is a dynamic research group in both the Department of Medicine’s Section of Genetic Medicine and the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. We work at the interface between physics, computation, and molecular biology to create cutting-edge technologies for the visualization and analysis of genomic complexity in multicellular systems. Our lab is located on the beautiful Hyde Park Campus of the University of Chicago, on the shore of Lake Michigan and a 15 minute drive from downtown Chicago.

Our most recent work has been the development of a new imaging modality, DNA microscopy, that uses DNA, instead of light, as an imaging medium to achieve spatial-genetic imaging of idiosyncratic biological specimens, such as tumors and lymphatic tissue.

Our lab consists of an interdisciplinary team of researchers with interests and expertise spanning biomedical engineering, chemistry, and computational mathematics. We have a keen interest in extending spatial-genetic imaging to address deep and open questions in immunology and neuroscience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Staff Scientist with a background in next generation sequencing, enzyme biochemistry, and molecular technology, interested in working with us on DNA microscopy.
