Senior Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist

We are looking for a talented team player and motivated Senior AR Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate must be highly organized and detail-oriented, have experience with tech industry billing, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.  The Senior AR Billing Specialist will manage the end-to-end billing process and our accounts receivable. This includes reviewing and approving sales orders, coordinating and consolidating billing data to create invoices, verifying sales opportunities according to the proper terms and conditions, proposing accounting journal entries for revenue booking, researching internal and external inquiries related to billing and accounts receivable outstanding, registering cash collections received and projects related to automating our Quote-to-Cash processes.  This role will report to the Controller but will interface with other departments such as sales, customer success, business development, and leadership. 

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate and timely customer invoices based on contract terms or other billing criteria. This also includes communication with Direct and Indirect customers, Partners and Resellers.
• Verify billing data to ensure completeness and accuracy of invoices including registration of invoices in customer portals (where applicable).
• Monitor billing cycles and proactively address discrepancies or issues in invoicing.
• Maintain professional and effective communication with customers regarding billing inquiries and disputes.
• Collaborate to address billing-related concerns and inquiries and distribute (email, upload, or mail) invoices to clients.
• Serve as the primary liaison with Client Relationship Managers and other departments/entities to ensure timely and accurate billing and resolve disputes.
• Assist with the timely execution and review of month-end and quarter-end close activities (including, but not limited to, deal review, account reconciliation, analysis, and reporting), including proper documentation of the checklist completed, analysis of flux for Account Receivables, Revenue Recognized, and Deferred Revenue. 
• Assist with the collection processes, including electronic deposits to our bank accounts. Discover, devise, and implement action plans to automate and scale the quote-to-cash process.
• Provide assistance and communication with A/R agencies for the collectability of the open invoices. 
• Follow up on, collect, and allocate payments.
• Carry out collection activities according to specific deadlines.
• Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities.
• Investigate and resolve customer queries through daily collection calls, emails, and documentation.
• Review and report on AR aging to ensure compliance
• Manage ad hoc or on-demand invoice billing.
• Assist with internal and external audits.

Qualifications

• NetSuite experience (required) and experience using the Revenue Module and the integration into Salesforce and the Salesforce platform a plus.
• Experience using Avalara tool, including reporting, filing, etc. preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree is required
• 5+ years experience in Accounting processes such as Monthly close, deadlines, etc.
• 3+ years experience working with Enterprise Sales (Software/SaaS industry preferred)
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
• Excellent problem-solving, and analytical skills
