Description
SUMMARY: The Commercial Driver – Overnight for Starmark Local, LLC (“Starmark Local”) performs regional white glove deliveries of Starmark Funeral Products to funeral homes, crematories, care centers, and distributor locations with a regional route averaging an 800–1000-mile round trip radius and will require overnight stays to complete. Routes can require loading and unloading all types of freight using provided equipment as well as delivering to multiple types of locations. The Commercial Driver - Overnight will plan and perform routes adjusting their schedule to make deliveries on time while following Department of Transportation (“DOT”) laws and Hours of Service (“HOS”) regulations. The Commercial Driver - Overnight will adhere to excellent service standards maintaining high customer satisfaction and safety compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Completes pre and post trip inspections according to DOT guidelines.
· When loading trucks, reviews delivery notes to ensure that all items listed are loaded and that all loaded items are listed. Corrects any discrepancies prior to leaving the loading dock.
· Maintains driver logs according to DOT regulations using our telematics system.
· Verifies delivery schedule is achievable before departing and ensures delivery of customer orders on time.
· Upon each delivery, double checks unloaded items against the delivery note and secures a signature from the recipient on the delivery note, collects any COD payments, and ensures reloading of all pads, stacks and straps.
· Submits all signed delivery notes, logs, and other paperwork to Customer Service in a timely and efficient manner.
· Ensures a message of good quality and ethics to funeral professionals, crematory operators and the public.
· Commercial Drivers are the face of Starmark Local and must always ensure professionalism and provide excellent customer service.
· Identifies and assesses customer needs to achieve satisfaction.
· Builds sustainable relationships during deliveries with trust through open & interactive communication with other team members, the Vandor Funeral Products organization, and funeral professionals and their staff.
When necessary, coordinates with Starmark Local Headquarters and/or Service Center Directors about customer refunds and/or exchange of goods and assists in the resolution of quality issues.
· Establishes and maintains an excellent Starmark Local relationship with all customers.
· Represents Starmark Local in treating all customers with respect, seeking to meet or exceed their privacy, transportation and delivery needs.
· Assists in loading of truck for next route if needed; secures items into proper position in trucks using pads, stacks, and straps to prevent damage during shipments including properly using specialized packaging (pad wrap) or loading (decking).
· On days when deliveries may not be needed, assists in loading/unloading products on the shipping dock and/or building specialized packaging skids.
· Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of Starmark Local operations.
· Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly workplace.
· Adheres to Starmark Local’s values, principles, and policies as published in the Starmark Local Team Member Handbook.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be neat and organized.
· Must live reasonably close to assigned work location for on-time arrival as scheduled.
· Must pass a DOT required physical exam and obtain a driver’s medical card (Starmark Local will pay for physical exam).
· Compliant with Department of Transportation: driver’s license (CDL Class A capable) and clean driving record. Must have valid State Driver’s License with none of the following infractions:
o No convictions for Reckless Driving
o No convictions for DUI or DWI within the last two (2) years.
o No convictions for Hit and Run accident.
o No convictions for Leaving the Scene of an accident.
o No convictions for Failing to Report an accident.
o No Multiple licenses.
o No suspended license.
· Above average verbal communication skills and good writing skills.
· Attention to detail and accuracy (must be able to read tickets from Service Center Director and pull correct items from inventory and load by hand or tow motor; must be able to count out products and supplies to ensure correct amounts are going to customers).
· Must have a cell phone with voice mail and texting (not supplied by Company).
· Able to work alone and in groups (mostly alone).
