Description
The School of Social Work in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions during the 2025–2026 academic year. Faculty Associates and Academic Associates are part-time, adjunct faculty who are hired on one-semester, renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in-person or online.
Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates and Academic Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

The School of Social Work https://socialwork.asu.edu is a school within Watts College of Public Services and Community Solutions. Watts College has a student body of over 6747 undergraduate and graduate students. Job Duties:
- Teach courses, as assigned
- Deliver course content through lectures, readings and resources, class discussions, and other teaching activities
- Support student engagement and learning
- Grade assignments and assessments according to rubrics
- Develop instructor presence
- Communicate in a timely, supportive, and responsive manner to students, staff, and faculty
- Be familiar with and follow ASU, Watts College, and School of Social Work policies and procedures related to teaching
- Collaborate with other faculty

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
● An earned master’s degree in a social sciences field, or related field, from an accredited institution by time of appointment.
● Consistent with ASU’s Charter and the School of Social Work mission, a demonstrated commitment to inclusion
● Minimum of two years of full-time related post master’s experience
● Prior teaching and/or training experience
● Expertise in one or more of the following content areas: Cultural Competence, Child Welfare, Youth & Adolescent Services, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Health & Behavioral Health, Hospital Social Work, Immigrant/Refugee Services, Practice Oriented Research, Gerontology, Poverty, Homelessness, Public Housing, Domestic Violence, Military/Veterans, Research/Statistics, Human Biology, Border Issues
● Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
● An MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited university
● Six years of related experience
