JOB SUMMARY

An Operating Room Patient Care Tech, also known as an Operating Room Assistant or Surgical Tech, assists surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgery, preparing the operating room, transporting patients, and providing technical support. They also ensure the safety of the surgical environment by following infection control protocols and maintaining a sterile field. 

• Preparing the operating room:

  This includes cleaning and preparing the room for procedures

• Patient transport:

  Assisting with moving patients to and from the operating room. 

• Providing technical assistance during surgery:

  This may include assisting with holding for preps and running to help get equipment needs for the patient

• Maintaining a clean and safe environment:

  Ensuring the operating room is properly cleaned and stocked after each procedure, following infection control protocols. 

JOB SUMMARY

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent: 
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile procedures: Essential for maintaining a sterile environment. 
• Strong communication and teamwork skills: As they work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. 
• Basic computer skills: For managing records and equipment. 
• Physical stamina: As the role involves lifting and moving patients and equipment.
