Description
The department of Fine & Performing Arts at Creighton University invites applications for a non-tenure track Adjunct Assistant Professor or Instructor of Theatre for a one-year appointment in Theatre/Lighting Design. The position will begin August 2025. We seek individuals committed to being outstanding teachers within a primarily undergraduate-serving college. The successful applicant will typically teach a 2-2 course load based on experience and departmental needs, including lighting design and upper-level courses. In addition to teaching the individual will also be responsible for the Theatre Lighting/Scenic Design of the regular Fine and Performing Arts season (typically four productions per year).
Qualifications
- An M.A. or M.F.A. or closely related degree such as Scenic Design, Lighting Design, or Lighting Technology required
- Candidates with interest in community engagement, service learning, and teaching theatre preferred
- Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs
- Evidence of excellent college level teaching is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations
- Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others

- Original academic transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended (photocopies acceptable during initial application process)
- Three letters of recommendation, at least two of which should speak to the candidate’s teaching ability
