General Description:

The Associate Director, Instructional Design will be responsible for design, construction, and ongoing maintenance of the resources and learning content for the US Commercial Learning and Development (CLD) team. Other responsibilities include design and technology support for CLD and our commercial organization. Strategic deliverables will include learning design for training initiatives, including additional product indications, product launches, and commercial meetings. Tactical deliverables may include creating and updating e-learnings, training decks, videos, infographics, subject to project scope. This individual will also be involved with other day-to-day operations of the CLD team, including learning measurement, effectiveness and reporting.

Essential Functions:

  • Needs Analysis and Learning Objectives: Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify training gaps and develop clear, measurable learning objectives.
  • Instructional Design: Apply instructional design theories and models to create engaging and effective learning experiences, tailoring them to the target audience's needs and learning styles.
  • Content Development: Redesign and/or develop high-quality learning materials, including e-learning courses, instructor-led training materials, and job aids, using various multimedia formats.
  • PRC Submissions: Responsible for uploading, monitoring, and updating CLD resources within Veeva.
  • Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Work closely with SMEs to gather and translate subject matter expertise into accessible and engaging learning content.
  • Evaluation and Assessment: Assist with the design and implementation of formative and summative assessments to measure learner progress and the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Technology Integration: Stay up to date with the latest instructional technologies and tools to enhance learning experiences and improve the overall efficiency of the learning and development process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve learner outcomes and overall program success.
  • Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest trends in instructional design, learning technologies, and adult learning theories to ensure the delivery of innovative and effective training solutions.

Minimum Requirements – Education and Experience:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8 years' experience as an instructional designer in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

Preferred: Master’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years' experience as an instructional designer in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

Other Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in instructional design theories and models (ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick Levels of Effectiveness, Bloom’s Taxonomy, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organizations including subject matter experts, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex concepts and simplify for learners and stakeholders.
  • Understanding and application of adult learning principles, learning design, learning measurement, and implementation of learning programs.
  • Effective time and project management skills.
  • Understanding of learning management systems (LMS)
  • Experience managing resources and processes related to the Promotional Review Committee (PRC).
  • Effectively work independently and as part of a team; positive, proactive, team-focused approach is essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

Travel: 10% - Remote role with travel dependent on business needs

Computer Skills:  

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Highly skilled with various authoring tools including but not limited to Rise and Storyline.
