As the Program Coordinator at the Center for Child and Family Policy, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team working to improve the well-being of children and families through research, education, and engagement.

In this role, you’ll support the Durham Choice Community Health Worker (CHW) program by supervising CHWs, engaging with enrolled households, and providing enhanced assistance for clients with complex needs. You’ll help shape evidence-based practices and policies that unlock opportunities for all children and their families.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Assist residents enrolled in Durham Choice case management by assessing and facilitating access to health and social care (40%).
  • Provide enhanced support and complex case management for clients facing barriers such as behavioral health or substance use challenges (20%).
  • Prepare reports and documentation for both internal and external stakeholders (20%).
  • Train and supervise new CHWs working with residents (10%).
  • Meet regularly with the program supervisor to assess progress and review documentation (5%).
  • Refer residents to human service organizations and program partners (5%).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

What You Bring:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • One year of experience in program administration or in academic, instructional, or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate, and implement a variety of program activities and events.
  • Experience in patient interaction and contact, with a strong foundation in public benefit programs and person-centered approaches to care.
  • Proven ability to supervise others, offering mentorship, guidance, and technical assistance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including maintaining client records, tracking outcomes, and managing schedules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
  • A talent for building trust with residents, respecting their needs, and maintaining confidentiality.

Anticipated Pay Range:

 

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position of USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00. Duke considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
