About the role

Urban is seeking a licensed land survey professional to manage a portfolio of projects for its survey department in our Chantilly, VA office. The ideal candidate would be trained and mentored to advance and lead the survey department as its director in the future.
Urban Ltd. provides full-service civil engineering, transportation engineering, land planning, landscape architecture, and surveying services to private and public sector clients throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a team to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Assist the field coordinator in the scheduling of survey crews and office staff based on project deadlines
  • Oversee the generation of all survey-related work, such as boundary & topography surveys, ALTA, and construction surveying
  • Compile and organize daily project field data
  • Coordinates, communicates, and directs the work of the office staff and field crews to provide precise location and grade control for site construction projects on time
  • Assist in writing proposals and performing monthly billing
  • Responsible for reviewing plans and projects with other departments to ensure adequate survey pricing for project bids
  • Considered the resident expert in the use and care of all survey equipment
  • Assures that accurate field location and grade control are communicated with other internal departments and clients on time to accommodate tight project deadlines
  • Collaborates and coordinates with principals, associates, civil engineers, project managers, and other employees regarding field surveys
  • When licensed, reviews, approves, signs, and seals survey documents
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Professional Land Surveying License (PLS) – (VA, MD or DC preferred)
  • Final testing for PLS License in progress – considered
  • Requires a high school diploma
  • Requires a minimum of six years of surveying experience
  • Proficiency in Land Surveying
  • Strong CAD Software Background
