Your Specific Responsibilities:

A Registered Nurse (RN) working on a mobile health bus plays a vital role in bringing healthcare directly to underserved communities. This position involves traveling to different locations to provide essential medical services, including vaccinations, health screenings, and patient education. The RN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accessible and high-quality care, often addressing the unique health concerns of the community. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to public health are key in this dynamic role, as nurses work closely with patients who may have limited access to traditional healthcare facilities. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by bridging healthcare gaps and promoting wellness in a mobile, community-focused setting.  This is a part-time position, two days per week.

 

 

Virginia B. Andes Mobile Clinic

 

• Educates community members on a variety of health topics
• Provides basic health assessments, takes vital signs
• Provides adult and childhood immunizations in accordance with CDC/ACIP recommendations
• Refers to primary care, specialty care, emergent care as appropriate
• Accurately records data in FLSHOTS and HMS database as appropriate

 

Other Duties

 

• Fills in for clinical operations including family planning, STI, and immunizations as needed
• Submits Employee Activity Records (EARs) in a timely manner
• Attends staff meetings, in-service programs, education conferences, and specialized training as required
• Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives
• Functions as a resource to professionals, paraprofessionals, support staff, and students
• Represents DOH-Charlotte through participation with agencies from state, county, and municipalities, and other community partners
• Contributes to the success of the agency’s Strategic Plan
• Performs other related duties in accordance with the needs of the organization and supervisor’s instruction
• Other duties as assigned

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Statutes, Rules and Regulations that pertain to the programs 
• Use of equipment and supplies related to the position

• Nursing functions related to assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of services provided to TB, STI, HIV, family planning and immunization patients
• Knowledge of the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases of public health significance, prevention of diseases of environmental origin, prevention of injuries, promotion of healthy behaviors, response to disasters and assistance in the recovery, and providing access to health care

 

Qualifications:

• Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with the Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27 is required
• A valid Florida driver’s license is required
• Must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) or willing to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
