Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) comprises many of Capital One’s most important enterprise platforms. We play an essential role in establishing practices for building technology solutions across the company, while also delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices.

What You’ll Do: 

• In this role, you will work on building the software platform essential to Capital One’s messaging and marketing strategy. 

• Our team owns the backend APIs and infrastructure for Capital One’s in-app messaging & marketing platform, which uses machine learning and large-scale heuristic rulesets to ensure that the right message is delivered to the right customer at the right time. 

• This role will involve working with the latest AWS & Serverless technologies, architecting new scalable microservices, coding/developing new features with Java/Spring Boot, leveraging cutting edge machine learning models, and building highly-resilient & well-managed backend software platforms, all of which is required for our team in order to reliably deliver messages to millions of customers per day through Capital One’s website and app. 

• As a Lead engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing modern technology solutions for teams across the messaging & marketing platform. This includes building robust and resilient microservices, collaborating across Product/Tech/Design, gaining buy-in from leadership teams, and ensuring that all of the components within our platform can scale to serve millions of messages per day. 

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that  help meet regulatory needs for the company

• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code

• Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

• Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree

• 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js

• 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks

• 1+ years of people management experience

• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
