JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, has an opening for a Mental Health Counselor (Clinical Services Provider) available beginning August 8, 2024.  This is an advanced or senior professional position.

Responsibilities include providing screening/triage services for students, short-term individual and group therapy, crisis evaluation and intervention, outreach and/consultation services, and possibly clinical supervision to non-licensed trainees.

This position will be filled at a level 3 or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master’s Degree or higher in Social Work or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level position.

Licensed eligibility as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor is required. Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor is preferred. Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexually and gender-diverse students.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. 

This is a standing position with a 75% to 100% full-time job equivalency (FTE) available, which will be determined by the successful applicant. For any FTE less than 100%, the typical schedule includes 40 hours per week during the academic year with summers off.  Full Penn State benefits are included.
