JOB SUMMARY:
While reporting to the Tax Director, the Senior Tax Analyst will assist with Federal and State tax compliance. This role will collaborate closely with various members within and outside the tax department and may assist with cross-functional ad hoc projects as needed. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated with strong tax provision and compliance skills that can think and adapt quickly.
HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Prepare transaction returns on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis including but not limited to: Sales/Use, Corporate Income/Franchise, Business & Occupation, Gross Receipts, Personal Property, Fuel Tax including State IFTA and State HUT/WDT, Federal Heavy Highway Use Tax, Ad Valorem, Canadian GST/HST and Quebec QST.
- Leverage previous experience to navigate sales and use tax reporting requirements, such as determining the taxability of purchases.
- Leverage prior experience of filing property tax returns for multiple properties across various jurisdictions. Track various deadlines, valuation methods, exemption rules, and stay current on tax rules and regulations.
- Work independently to determine new nexus requirements for various tax types.
- Learn on the go in order to successfully complete and timely file new compliance requirements independently.
- Leverage ERPs and other accounting tools to gather data for income tax return preparation.
- Leverage ERPs and other accounting tools to gather data for provision preparation.
- Assist with Federal and State audits.
- Provide support for various tax projects as needed including researching tax code in order to respond to notices for various tax types.
- Manage tax calendar, adding new jurisdictions as necessary, and ensure timely filing of all returns.
- Assist with analysis of tax accounts and account reconciliations.
- Assist with recurring tasks essential to the functionality of the Tax Department.
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience (Public Accounting a plus).
- Strong skill set in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to research complex tax issues.
- Strong analytical thinker, problem solver, who pays attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Self-motivated and able to work with little direction while under general supervision.
- Ability to work with internal Quantix team members and manage third party providers.
