The Fort Irwin National Training Center is a major training area for the United States military and is located in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County, California. KBR provides maintenance and logistics services to customers at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California to support the U.S. Army building brigade combat team readiness with ten annual training rotations.
Job Summary
As a Human Resource Generalist, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of human resources programs, policies, processes, and procedures designed to attract, retain, and reward employees globally in alignment with our overall business strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work directly with your supervisor to solve complex problems utilizing your detailed knowledge of both field and industry best practices.
- Use your experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes.
- Provide guidance to less experienced team members where appropriate.
- Assist the Project HR Manager with development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and guidelines for the employees and department.
- Conduct new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefits, payroll, KBR philosophy, unionized environment, and Workday access.
- Work with hiring managers to develop job descriptions.
- Write, review, edit, and proofread all disciplinary actions prior to being administered.
- Generate official internal documents such as union offer letters, appointment letters, job bids, leave documents, and grievance responses.
- Answer employee questions and address employee concerns in accordance with the Union CBA, State law and/or Company policies.
- Report, maintain, and monitor workers’ compensation and medical leaves of absences.
- Perform your duties ethically and with integrity at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a NACI. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Green Card holder who has lived within the United States for at least the last 3 years to be eligible for this position.
- Must have a High School Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree, and at least 3 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have experience conducting workplace investigations from start to finish with ability to provide recommendations for a course of action.
- Must have knowledge of California State HR law.
- Must be able to successfully work with various levels of employees and management.
- Must be self-directed, have a strong attention to detail and the ability to successfully multitask.
- Requires Leadership and Coaching skills.
- Must have Conflict Resolution skills.
- Requires strong empathy and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines is required.
- A current and valid U.S. State issued driver’s license is required.
- Must be proficient in conducting workplace investigations.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Knowledge of unionized environments strongly preferred.
- Strong labor relations background.
- Proficient in conducting workplace investigations.
- Scheduled Weekly Hours is 40 hours, but just be able to work overtime as needed.

Basic Compensation: $69,200 - $103,800
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
