What You Will Do

The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design & development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon.  The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability. CPR is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Accelerated Learning & Rapid Prototyping section as a member of the collaborative team. The Accelerated Learning & Rapid Prototyping section is a service organization chartered to enable accelerated learning and rapid prototyping in all phases of hardware development using capabilities and enablers including polymer additive manufacturing and 3D Scanning. As a primary responsibility, you will collaborate with engineers from all disciplines and mission areas to support mechanical hardware development throughout a given product lifecycle.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for hardware design in support of rapid prototyping and product development to meet stringent program schedules. You will be executing as part of small team during product development, drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation to meet a set of requirements. Additionally, you will be supporting internal additive manufacturing lab capabilities, connecting internal customers to external suppliers as needed for the manufacturing of AM and engaging in 3D scanning activities in support of hardware measurement applications.

Support internal Additive Manufacturing lab capabilities which include but not limited to: manage and execute end-to-end AM prototype part workflows for material extrusion, material jetting, and vat photopolymerization, machine troubleshooting, continuous improvement and material handling. Connect internal customers to external suppliers as needed for the manufacturing and procurement of AM and traditionally manufactured parts to support development, proof of design, proof of manufacturing, and engineering use hardware. Utilize CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation Support end-to-end rapid prototyping from initial requirement development, to design, to procurement, to fabrication, to integration and test. Perform 3D scanning activities in support of hardware measurement, hardware inspection, hardware reverse engineering and 3D documentation applications. Create documents per Raytheon guidelines and release them in the Product Data Management (PDM) system. Manage multiple customer requests, materials, processes, and workflow stages simultaneously while keeping team up-to-date

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major

Experience with 3D modeling CAD tools, geometric dimensioning, tolerancing methods, and reading mechanical fabrication/assembly drawings

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

Hands-on rapid prototyping, hardware integration and troubleshooting Experience

Experience in working with polymer additive manufacturing technologies/processes, AM machines, and post-processing equipment

Experience in additive manufacturing software such as CURA, Materialise Magics, Stratasys GrabCAD, Stratasys Insight, Stratasys Control Center, and Formlabs Preform

Experience in 3D scanning for hardware measurement and reverse engineering
